Charlotte Howson, PsyD
Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Administrator
Dr. Howson earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from George Washington University. She has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings, including private practice, community mental health, emergency services, and outpatient psychiatry. She has a particular interest in helping clients who struggle with chronic illness, abusive relationships, interpersonal conflict, complex trauma, grief and loss, and challenges around identity, life transitions, and self-esteem.
While Dr. Howson’s approach to therapy is primarily psychodynamic and relational, she draws on various modalities, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy, to create a tailored therapeutic experience. She believes safety, trust, and respect are critical elements to successful therapy. Similarly, she views every single client as a completely unique person with equally distinct strengths and needs. Fundamental to this work is Dr. Howson’s strong belief that a client’s identity and therapeutic needs are oftentimes a result of long-standing patterns that are rooted within the past.
